Lions Club Shimla Hosts Successful Blood Donation Camp on World Blood Donor Day
In a heartwarming display of community spirit, the Lions Club Shimla joined hands with the District Red Cross Society and Kamla Nehru Hospital (KNH) Blood Bank to organize a life-saving blood donation camp at Ridge (Rain Shelter) today. The event, held in observance of World Blood Donor Day, saw an overwhelming response from locals and tourists alike, reinforcing the power of collective goodwill.
A Noble Cause for a Critical Need
Led by Lions Club President Man Mohan Verma, the initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation while honoring the selfless contributions of donors. “Every drop of blood donated is a lifeline for someone in need,” Verma emphasized. “This day reminds us that a steady, safe blood supply is vital for emergencies, surgeries, and medical treatments.”
Officials and Doctors Laud Public Participation
The camp was inaugurated by Sh. Abhishek Verma, IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, who praised the efforts of the organizers and donors. A dedicated medical team from KNH, headed by Dr. Kanchan, efficiently collected 30 units of blood, ensuring each donor was cared for with refreshments, certificates, and mementos as tokens of gratitude.
Community Spirit Shines Bright
Tourists and locals stepped forward enthusiastically, proving that humanity thrives in Shimla’s hills. Lions Club members, including Secretary M.K. Sharma, Project Chairperson Mukul Sood, and other dedicated volunteers, worked tirelessly alongside Red Cross Society and Telecom Department representatives to make the event a success.
Why Blood Donation Matters
With blood shortages being a persistent challenge, such camps play a crucial role in saving lives. The Lions Club has pledged to continue organizing regular drives, urging more people to join this lifesaving mission.
“Donating blood costs nothing but gives everything—another chance at life.”
