Light to moderate rain or snow likely in the high reaches of Himachal

Prevailing Western disturbances and two cyclones near the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are likely to aggregate cold weather conditions in the Northern Western Himalayan state of India as the Indian Meteorological Department predicted the possibility of light to moderate rain or snowfall in few places of Himachal Pradesh in next 24 hrs.

IMD in a weather forecast issued for NW Himalayan state on Sunday stated that a WD is above mean sea level and now runs roughly along Long. 66°E to the north of Lat. 32°N and Cyclonic Circulation over West Rajasthan & neighborhood extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level persists and may affect present dry weather conditions.

The WDs likely are creating the possibility of light snow at higher reaches in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti till the next 24 hours.

 No warning was issued by the district administration however impending inclement weather vehicular traffic on the Manali Leh highway would be restricted. Vehicles going towards Leh from Sarchu would be permitted between 0800 to 1100 hrs and between from Darcha 1100 to 1400 hrs only.

Met Office also forecasts the possibility of light to moderate rainfall in a few places of Una, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti till this afternoon and overnight.

Light clouds are hovering in the sky and coldwave conditions intensified in the mid and high reaches however mercury improvised mainly stayed above freezing point in most places of the state.

Tourists resort Shimla, Manali, Dalhousie Narkanda and Kufri have higher possibilities of rainfall and snowflakes which would be the third major spell of inclement weather in this post-monsoon season.
