Kangana withdraws her farm law remarks, BJP distances Itself
Mandi’s BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, known for making controversial statements, has stirred the political scene with her remarks on the farm laws. She had already indicated that her statement could lead to controversy. The BJP, distancing itself, labeled the comments as her personal views. After the uproar, Kangana eventually retracted her statement. She said, “In recent days, the media asked me questions about the farm laws, and I suggested that farmers should request the Prime Minister to reinstate them. Many were disappointed with my statement. When the laws were first introduced, they had support, but our Prime Minister, with great sensitivity, withdrew them. My views should not be personal; they should reflect my party’s stance. If I have let anyone down with my words, I regret it. I retract my statement.”
Opposition parties accused the BJP of having a hidden agenda. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia clarified that Kangana was not authorized to make such a statement and that her comments do not represent the party’s views on the farm laws. Opposition leaders have since alleged that her remarks expose a concealed agenda within the BJP. Congress MP Pramod Tiwari stated that her comments revealed BJP’s hidden motive. AAP MP Sanjay Singh called for a response from PM Modi, while BJP ally JDU also condemned her remarks.
Congress leader Deepender Hooda reacted strongly to Kangana’s statement, claiming that she indicated the time had come to re-implement the three farm laws. He challenged that if the BJP comes to power in Haryana, they will enforce these “black laws.” However, Hooda assured that Congress would form the government in Haryana, and no force could bring back the controversial laws.
