Kangana Pulls Up Officials Over Delayed Projects, Demands Results on Ground
Expressing frustration over slow progress in development works and the implementation of Central government schemes, Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut strongly questioned district officials during a DISHA (District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee) meeting, urging them to move beyond paperwork and deliver tangible results for the people.
Reviewing the status of various development projects and welfare schemes, Ranaut stressed that public funds must be used responsibly and reach the people they are meant to benefit. She underscored the need for stronger monitoring, timely execution of projects, and greater accountability in spending government money.
“The public money should not go into the wrong hands,” she remarked, adding that lapses in implementation and delays in development work could not be overlooked. Highlighting concerns over fund utilisation, the BJP MP claimed that a significant portion of public money often fails to reach its intended purpose and called for stricter oversight of government-funded projects.
Ranaut was particularly critical of projects that have remained incomplete despite receiving financial approvals. Pointing to long-pending works, she told officials that the time for discussing old issues had passed and that the focus should now be on completing projects and reporting outcomes.
“The time for ‘addressing’ things is gone. Those are two-year-old matters. Now get the job done and report to me that this is done,” she said firmly.
Referring to one project that had reportedly been allocated ₹11 crore, Ranaut expressed disbelief that no visible work had taken place despite the sanctioned funds. She described the situation as unacceptable and questioned the effectiveness of the administrative machinery responsible for execution.
The MP also voiced concern about what she should tell constituents and the media when asked about the pace of development in the region. She questioned whether people expected visible progress while projects continued to remain stuck for years.
During the meeting, Ranaut emphasised that Centrally sponsored schemes should not remain confined to official records but must translate into real benefits for residents, particularly those living in rural and remote areas of Mandi. She instructed officials to closely monitor project quality, ensure efficient utilisation of funds, and remove administrative bottlenecks delaying execution.
The review meeting was held under the DISHA framework, which is designed to monitor the implementation of Central government schemes at the district level. Ranaut’s remarks once again brought attention to concerns over delayed development works, project monitoring, and accountability in the utilisation of public resources.
Notably, this is not the first time the Mandi MP has publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of administrative work. She had issued similar warnings during a DISHA meeting in October 2025, urging officials to take development reviews more seriously.
With her latest intervention, Ranaut sent a clear message that development projects must move from planning tables to the ground, ensuring that government investments result in visible improvements in the lives of people across the constituency.
