Junga town is riddled with problems – a major challenge for the newly elected Panchayat

The princely town of Junga still struggles with age-old basic problems. With a population of approximately four thousand, the lack of amenities like sanitation, public toilets, parking, a bus station, and a bypass road continues to be a source of concern for local residents. Consequently, the newly elected Panchayat faces the biggest challenge of ensuring Junga’s planned development and ensuring basic amenities.
Local merchants say the Panchayat still lacks a solid system for regular cleaning of the town, causing resentment among residents. Furthermore, there are no adequate public toilets for visitors. The toilet built at the bus stand years ago is in a dilapidated condition due to lack of maintenance and staff. The Tehsil, hospital, state-level forensic laboratory, and other government offices receive large numbers of visitors from various Panchayats daily, but women, in particular, face significant difficulties due to the lack of toilets.
Locals have once again raised the demand for Junga to be granted Nagar Panchayat status, or an urban body. They say that despite its large population and the presence of several important government institutions, the town has yet to achieve Nagar Panchayat status. Furthermore, it has not been included within the scope of SADA, preventing planned development. Due to the lack of enforcement of town planning laws, building construction is also proceeding arbitrarily.
Due to the lack of a bypass road to the old Junga area, heavy vehicles must navigate the narrow market streets, often causing traffic jams. Furthermore, the lack of a proper bus station and parking facilities poses daily challenges for local residents and drivers visiting from outside.
Panchayat head Ramlal said that a comprehensive plan will be prepared for the planned development of Junga city.
