Jersey cow dies tragically due to electric shock in Nalta Meemu

 Due to alleged negligence of the Electricity Board, a Jersey cow died a painful death due to electric shock in Nalta Meemu village of Gram Panchayat Peeran in Mashobra block on Sunday.
The cow’s owner, Sahi Ram Mehta, said he was taking his cattle out to graze as usual. Meanwhile, his Jersey cow was electrocuted by a live power cable laid without poles for a BSNL tower near Nalta, killing it instantly. He said he narrowly escaped being electrocuted while trying to save the cow.
According to Sahi Ram Mehta, the dead cow used to give more than eight kilograms of milk daily, which was a vital support for the family’s livelihood. It should be noted that about two years ago, the Electricity Board had laid an electric cable without poles for the BSNL tower installed in the Nalta area near Peeran. Due to continuous heavy rains, the cable fell on the ground, causing this accident. Fortunately, due to this negligence, the lives of many people of the area were saved because the villagers keep going there for grass and wood.
Upon receiving information about the incident, officials from the Junga police, the Animal Husbandry Department, the Electricity Board, and Nisha Devi, the village head of the Peeran village council, arrived at the scene and inspected the scene. Electricity Board employees initially admitted their negligence and provided the cow owner with 20,000 rupees as compensation on the spot. Vikas Raj, a junior engineer (JE) with the Electricity Board, assured that electricity poles would be installed at the site within two days to prevent future incidents.
