Jaypee University of Information Technology Hosts JUIT: An AI Odyssey — A Landmark AI-Powered Storytelling Competition

Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, recently set a new benchmark in student innovation by organizing a unique and forward-thinking competition titled “JUIT: An AI Odyssey.” Held under the leadership of CEO Manu Bhaskar Gaur, the event brought together technology, creativity and storytelling, offering students a vibrant platform to explore the possibilities of artificial intelligence.

Built around the theme “Make the User a Part of the JUIT Story through AI Characters & Interactive Storytelling,” the competition encouraged participants to create immersive digital experiences. Students were challenged to design interactive environments that allow users to virtually live “A Day in the Life at JUIT,” blending imagination with advanced technology.

Participants rose to the occasion with impressive enthusiasm, developing AI-powered storytelling models that combined conversational AI, voice synthesis, visual storytelling, animations and interactive decision-making features. The event saw participation from undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students, with 20 teams showcasing their ideas using cutting-edge tools such as ChatGPT, ElevenLabs, Midjourney, Runway, Unity and Unreal Engine.

After multiple rounds of evaluation, five teams made it to the grand finale, where they presented their projects before an expert panel comprising Prof. Tiratha Raj Singh, Dr. Hari Singh and Mr. Saurav Kumar Singh. Entries were judged on parameters like innovation, creativity, technical depth, storytelling quality and user experience.

The competition concluded with remarkable performances. The Cognitive Creators Team—featuring Siddhant Sharma, Ankush Bhunia, Viksit Taran and Vishal Thakur—clinched the first prize for their outstanding combination of AI and immersive storytelling. The Jaadoo Team (Kartikeya Bharatwaj and Aditya Singh) secured the second position, while the third prize was jointly awarded to Llama 4.0 (Devansh Kalia and Arsh Sharma) and RajmaChawal (Nandini Garg, Saarvi Sharma, Saransh Agarwal and Khushi Goel).

The awards were presented by Vice Chancellor Prof. R.K. Sharma, who congratulated all participants and praised their innovative spirit. He highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence and interdisciplinary learning in shaping the future of education and technology.

The event was coordinated smoothly by PhD scholars Kunal and Akshita Chaudhary, under the guidance of Prof. Tiratha Raj Singh (Associate Dean – Innovation), whose mentorship played a key role in the success of the competition.

“JUIT: An AI Odyssey” stood out as a powerful example of how technology can transform storytelling and learning experiences. The event not only celebrated creativity but also reinforced JUIT’s commitment to nurturing innovation, research and next-generation skills among its students.
