Jai Ram Slams Govt Over Non-Functional HIM CARE Scheme, Urges Immediate Action

Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has strongly criticized the state government, demanding the immediate restoration of treatment services under the HIM CARE scheme.

In a pointed statement, Thakur expressed concern over the growing number of patients being turned away from hospitals due to their inability to afford medical expenses, despite holding HIM CARE cards. “People are reaching hospitals seeking treatment but are forced to return without care because officials are refusing to honor their HIM CARE cards. This is stripping poor patients of the free treatment they’re entitled to in government hospitals,” he said.

Thakur added that he has been inundated with calls from distressed patients. “Every day, I receive multiple calls from poor patients who are helpless in managing medical costs. This is a deeply worrying situation,” he noted.

He questioned the state government’s stance on the matter: “If the government claims the HIM CARE scheme hasn’t been discontinued, then why isn’t it being implemented in hospitals? Why are critically ill patients being denied treatment under the scheme?”

Thakur also took a swipe at the rising cost of healthcare services, alleging that while fees for basic tests like X-rays and ECGs have been hiked significantly—and even the cost of obtaining birth certificates has soared—there’s been no visible improvement in the quality of healthcare services.
