A consumer awareness program was organized at the Government Industrial Training Institute, Rajgarh on Wednesday, courtesy of the Himachal Consumer Protection Council. In which representatives were informed about TRAI’s schemes and programs being run for consumers related to telecommunication and broadcasting and about being cautious about cyber fraud. While presiding over the program, the Council’s President Joginder Kanwar said that in today’s digital age, cases of online fraud are increasing, for which every person should be cautious about mobile and internet.
He said that cyber cases are increasing a lot in Himachal Pradesh. He told people how they can avoid being blackmailed through cybercrime and social media platforms. Kanwar said that no one should download unnecessary applications on mobile. Apart from this, do not share your personal information like ATM, password, or OTP with anyone. He said that complaints of any kind of cybercrime can be lodged on the National Cyber ​​Crime Reporting Portal.
Council’s Vice President Ranjit Singh Dhiman informed the consumers about various schemes being implemented in the public interest through TRAI. These include MNP service, DND, and complaint redressal mechanisms. You can stop any kind of unwanted calls and messages by downloading Do Not Disturb, a DND App Google brought by TRAI from the Play Store.
On this occasion, retired District Controller of Food Civil Supply Affairs Surendra Sharma informed the consumers present about the precautions to be taken while doing their daily shopping. He told that as per the rules, it is necessary to print the name of the manufacturer, date of manufacture, expiry date and weight along with the maximum retail price on every item sold in a sealed packet.
Council’s Finance Secretary Anokhi Ram Verma expressed his gratitude to all the participants for attending the camp.
Earlier, the senior instructor of the institute, Sewa Ram welcomed all the officials of the council and urged them to organize such educational camps in future. Trainees, staff of the institute and representatives of various telephone companies participated in the program.
