Injustice is being done to multi task workers engaged in PWD – Pritam Thakur

The government is giving Rs 4500 to the person who lifts cement bags and Rs 5625 to the person who rings the school bell.
Shimla 08 February. The multi-task workers posted in the Public Works Department are upset at getting less salary than the multi-task workers posted in the Education Department. Let us tell you that during the tenure of the previous BJP government, thousands of multi-task workers were appointed in educational institutions and Public Works Department. Due to huge variation in their honorarium, a lot of injustice has been done to the multi-task workers posted in the Public Works Department. It should be noted that during the tenure of the previous government, the honorarium for multi-task workers appointed in educational institutions has been fixed at Rs 5625 and for multi-task workers appointed in the Public Works Department, the honorarium has been fixed at Rs 4500 per month.
Social worker Pritam Singh Thakur says that giving Rs 4500 to laborers who have to work on the roads all day in adverse weather is a big injustice to this class. They say that multi-task workers have been appointed in the educational institution within a radius of three kilometers of the school. Their duty has also been posted in the same school and their working timings are also from ten in the morning to four in the morning. Whereas the multi-task workers posted in the Public Works Department have to perform duty from 9 am to 5 pm to repair roads at various places in adverse conditions. Many multi-task workers deployed in the Public Works Department, while narrating their plight on the condition of anonymity, said that they were interviewed for lifting cement bags, yet despite this, they are getting Rs 1125 less per month than the multi-task workers employed in the school. Whereas there is no heavy work for multi task workers in the school. The surprising thing is that this issue has never been put before the government by the officials of the Public Works Department, nor is there anyone who raises voice in favor of this poor labor class people. This class is being ground in this mill of injustice.
Pritam Thakur said that by increasing the honorarium of multi-task workers posted in the Public Works Department, they should be brought at par with MTWs posted in the Education Department so that this class is not exploited.
When this was discussed with officials of the Public Works Department. He said on the condition of anonymity that this discrepancy happened during the tenure of the previous government which can be rectified by the present government.
