IGMC awarded prestigious “Skoch Award” in recognition of its innovative “Bed Side Ayushman Card” activation program

The Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) Shimla has been awarded the prestigious “Skoch Award” in recognition of their innovative “Bed Side Ayushman Card” activation program. This program, launched in June 2023, has streamlined the process for patients to activate their Ayushman cards, a government-sponsored health insurance scheme in India. As of today, the program has benefitted over 1,121 patients by facilitating the activation of their Ayushman cards at their bedsides. This initiative has significantly reduced the burden on critically ill patients and their families by eliminating the need to visit separate locations for card activation. The award was presented to Dr. Rahul Rao, Medical Superintendent, IGMC Shimla, at a ceremony.
