Himachal Takes Stride for a Drug-Free Future, Suku to lead Anti Chitta Walkathon in Hamirpur

In a powerful community-driven initiative, the Himachal Pradesh government is rallying its citizens against drug abuse. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will personally lead a large public “Anti-Chitta Walkathon” in Hamirpur on December 16, 2025. This event, organized by the Himachal Pradesh Police, is a key part of a statewide movement to build a healthier, drug-free future.

Highlighting the devastating impact of synthetic drugs, or “chitta,” the Chief Minister made a heartfelt appeal for public participation. He emphasized that drug abuse shatters young lives and erodes the very foundation of society. Achieving a “Chitta-Free Himachal,” he stressed, requires a united and sustained effort from every citizen.

Planning Your Journey: Traffic Advisory

To ensure everyone’s safety and the smooth running of the event, local authorities have made special traffic arrangements for December 16. The Superintendent of Police, Balbir Singh, announced temporary stops and diversions on routes towards Shimla, Sujanpur, Jahu, and Nadaun.

Key traffic points affected include: Anu Chowk, Pakka Bharo, and Nalti Bypass, among others.

Residents and commuters are advised to use the alternative route via Dosarka-Mattansidh-Bypass-Pakka Bharo-Anu. Please note that the Bus Stand-Dosarka road will likely be affected until the walkathon concludes. Designated drop-off points have been arranged to help participants join the event safely.

This walkathon is more than just a march; it’s a collective step towards hope, health, and a brighter tomorrow for Himachal Pradesh.
