Himachal State BJP President Suresh Kashyap resigns

Amid the Shimla Municipal Corporation Election BJP state chief Suresh Kashyap tendered their resignation to National President Jagat Prakash Nadda in New Delhi last night, a party state spokesperson confirmed.

Mr. Kashyap replaced former President Rajiv Bimdal on July 22, 2020, in this post and his tenure was about to end shortly. In a dramatic change in the party, Mr. Kashyap handed over a copy of the resignation to Nadda last night.

Confirming the party sources about the tendering of resignation said that BJP national president did not accept his resignation. BJP State President is also a member of Lok Sabha from Shimla reserved seats. He had stated the reason for sparing time for preparation for the next Lok Sabha Election which is due next year. Mr. Kashyap has told the party that being state chief he couldn’t able to give time to his constituency and he tenders resignation from the post.

Party spokesperson said that the tenure of Mr. Kashyap is already completed and the party would be expected to take a decision on the development soon.

He said that Mr. Kashyap also suffered a hypoglycemia attack this morning as his Glycaemic level fell down to 50 forcing him to rush hospital. The party leader recovered from the trauma and he returned to Nahan this afternoon he is well.

Meanwhile, the resignation of Mr. Kashyap also inkles some unexpected hurry on the part of Suresh Kashyap at a time when Shimla Municipal Election going on in the state. Shimla MC affects the prospect of the Shimla Lok Sabha Election as there are three Assembly involved in the poll and nearby seven Assembly Constituencies also may have repercussions if BJP couldn’t retain the local self-government.

The party is already in receiving ends as all the Assembly Election in Shimla MC went in favor of Congress and out of 17 Assembly in the Shimla Parliamentary segment BJP could win only three Assembly.

It would be very tough for Mr. Kashyap to retain the seat in 2024 if he didn’t involve himself in time owing to the falling graph of BJP in the state.
