Himachal has vast potential for medical tourism
Himachal Pradesh, witnessing a heavy footfall of tourists around the year should explore its vast potential for medical tourism. This was stated by the Health Minister Dr Dhani Ram Shandil while participating in a interactive session of stakeholders and Union Government officials on a program held a New Delhi last evening.
He said that there is a need to combine travel with health benefits as travelers may enjoy the healthy and soothing environment of the state which would further also boost the economies of states.
Dr. Shandil said that Himachal Pradesh has vast potential for Medical Tourism. The state was blessed with immense natural beauty and its peaceful and serene environment was the perfect place for patients traveling to India for medical treatment, said the Minister.
The rich culture, food, breathtaking valleys, beautiful tourist destinations, temples, and monasteries attract domestic and foreign tourists in large numbers and medical tourism can open up vast employment opportunities to local people, therefore, improving the economy of the state, said Dr. Shandil.
He lauded the organizers for holding an event that aimed at promoting health and wellness and added that the concept of combining travel with health will not only benefit travelers but also boost the economies of states.
