Himachal Govt close all educational institutions on July 10 & 11

The state government decided to close down all educational institutions on July 10 and 11 following monsoon furry continue as most of the roads, paths, bridges, and four lanes and the National Highway were washed down by extremely heavy rainfall.

A state government spokesperson said that in view of heavy rains in the state, all government and private educational institutions recognized by the state government will remain closed on July 10 and 11.

Kiratpur-Manali Four lane suffered massive loss as many places Beas river washed down footwall, half dozen of vehicles parked along the bank of river washed down. Meanwhile, many valley bridges and main bridges were washed down by the flash flood. Reports arriving here said that Beas, Satluj, Ravi, and Chenab rivers are in spate. 

According to the information received from the District Disaster Management Authority Mandi six, people were stranded in their homes due to the water level of Vyas River due to the increase in the water level of Pandoh, which was protected by the team of HP SDRF Mandi Has been fired.

Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic loss of three lives of a family in a landslide incident in Kumarsain tehsil of Shimla District. 

In his message of condolence, the Chief Minister extended prayers for the departed souls to rest in peace and for the bereaved family members to find strength during this irreplaceable loss. 

He said that district administration has been directed to provide immediate relief to the affected family.

Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu told that keeping in view the heavy rainfall & harsh weather conditions in the state, all the Government and Private Schools affiliated with Himachal Pradesh School Education Board in the state and Government and Private Colleges affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University & Sardar Patel University will remain closed for next two days (10th July & 11th July 2023). 

The private schools functioning in the state & affiliated to CBSE, ICSE, and any other Education Board may take the decision regarding closing their schools, for two days at their own level keeping in view their exigencies i.e. ongoing exams, etc. & local weather conditions. It is further advised that the safety & security of the students & employees be ensured at every level, he added.

The Chief Minister said that in view of the bad weather forecast, the state government has alerted the concerned district administration for safety measures and to aware the general public of the same. 

He also appealed to the people of the state to avoid going near the rivers and nullahs besides remaining vigilant amidst the ongoing adverse weather conditions as per the warning issues by the metrological department He also urged the public to cooperate with the district administration and abide by the advisories issued by the authorities.  

In  Shimla City landslide disrupted  Tawi Mor and Tutu, and traffic is moving in one way. A tree was also uprooted between Tutikandi crossing and ISBT, due to which traffic is moving in one way. Three persons including a small killer had a narrow escape as their car was hit by a tree.

 A landslide has occurred near Kumar House on the road from Vidhansabha to Annadel, blocking the road. The Mehli-Junga road is blocked for traffic due to the uprooting of trees on the road near Mehli.

Outside the town, Landslide occurred beneath the iron bridge near Ghandal on Shimla-Manali National Highway-205, due to which the traffic on the bridge is being moved one-way. 

Shimlaa Police requests the commuter that Vehicles going from Shimla towards Arki, Shalaghat, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, and Mandi would pass through the iron bridge built near Ghandal only. While vehicles coming from Arki, Shalaghat, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, and Mandi towards Shimla, use Bangora (Galog), Kalihatti, Nalhatti, Haridevi, Ghanahatti roads.

On National Highway 05 Theog iron bridge built recently has been closed for all types of loaded trucks, the bridge would remain open for other traffic. The bridge would be reopened after the weather becomes normal.

Narkanda to Nankhari road is blocked for traffic due to a landslide near Bathnal. Shimla-Rampur National Highway near Narkanda (Barubagh) traffic is one-way traffic due to fallen trees, work to open the road is in progress. Chopal Shimla road is open for traffic, while many link roads of the Chopal area have been blocked. Shimla-Solan National Highway is open for highway traffic.
