Himachal government announces major bureaucratic reshuffle

In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Himachal Pradesh government has transferred eight IAS officers and one IFS officer to new positions. Dr. Yunus has been appointed as the Director of Industries, while also taking on the additional responsibility of Commissioner of State Tax and Excise. The Personnel Department announced these transfers late Tuesday evening.

Rakesh Kumar Prajapati, who previously served as the Director of Industries, has now been reassigned as the Director of Energy. IFS officer Neeraj Kumar, formerly the Forest Range Officer in Rampur, will now serve as the Director of Urban Development.

Among the IAS transfers, Nivedita Negi is set to become the Secretary of the State Public Service Commission, effective November 1. Mansi Sahay Thakur, who was previously managing additional responsibilities as Director of Tourism and Civil Aviation, has been appointed as the Labor Commissioner and Director of Employment.

Vivek Bhatia, the Chief Minister’s Principal Private Secretary and Special Secretary, has been assigned the additional role of Director of Tourism, along with the charge of the Youth Services and Sports Department.

Other notable appointments include Gopal Chand, who has been named CEO and Managing Director of Shimla Smart City, and Harikesh Meena, who will now serve as Managing Director of the State Power Corporation. Additionally, Rupali Thakur, formerly the Director of Women and Child Development, has been appointed as Director of the Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPPA).
