Himachal Congress expressed deep grief over the demise of former PM Dr Manmohan Singh

State Congress leaders have expressed deep grief over the demise of former Prime Minister of the country and senior Congress leader Dr. Manmohan Singh and have prayed to God for the peace of the departed soul.

State Congress President and former MP Pratibha Singh has said that with the demise of Manmohan Singh, the country has lost a great economist. She said that Manmohan Singh will always be remembered for his remarkable work.

Party leaders organized a condolence meeting at the state Congress headquarters Rajiv Bhawan and paid their tributes to Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Speaker of the State Assembly Kuldeep Singh Pathania said in the condolence meeting that the death of Dr. Manmohan Singh has caused a loss not only to the country but to the entire world. A staunch advocate of economic reforms, he had shown the path of economic reforms not only to the country but to the entire world.

Pathania said that he was the one who laid the foundation of most of the central schemes for public welfare that are running today. Apart from AIIMS, IIT, medical colleges, he also gave MNREGA, RTI, right to food, right to education to the citizens of the country. He said that this country will never be able to forget him. The country will always remember the remarkable work he did for the country as Prime Minister or as Finance Minister.

MLA Kewal Pathania, Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor Surendra Chauhan, Women Congress President Zainab Chandel also expressed their condolences and prayed to God for the peace of the departed soul.

In the condolence meeting, Chief Media Advisor to the Chief Minister, Naresh Chauhan, Vice President of Small Savings Board, Prakash Kard, Vice President of Himuda, Yashwant Chhajta, along with officials of Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, Seva Dal, NSUI and former officials of the party, councillors and workers of Shimla Municipal Corporation offered their tributes for the peace of the departed soul.

During this, two minutes of silence was also observed.

State Seva Dal chief organizer Anurag Sharma has also expressed deep grief over the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

On the directions of the All India Congress Committee, the State Congress Committee has cancelled all its pre-scheduled programmes till January 3 due to state mourning in the country.
