Himachal Braces for Heatwave Before Welcoming the Monsoon

As summer tightens its grip, Himachal Pradesh is experiencing a mix of clear skies and rising temperatures. According to the Shimla Meteorological Department, the weather will remain clear on June 13 and 14, but residents in the lower and plain regions should prepare for heatwave conditions. A Yellow Alert has been issued for districts including Una, Chamba, Kullu, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur, warning of potentially intense heat.

But relief may be on the horizon.

Starting June 15, the weather is expected to shift, bringing light showers to many parts of the state, especially in mid and high-altitude areas. From June 16 to 18, widespread rainfall is likely, and the monsoon is anticipated to arrive by June 27, offering a much-needed break from the heat.

Meanwhile, temperatures have soared across the state, with Una topping the charts at a scorching 43.5°C, followed by Bilaspur (39.8°C) and Hamirpur (39.0°C). Even cooler hill stations like Shimla (28.6°C) and Dalhousie (26.0°C) are feeling the heat.

As Himachal transitions from summer to monsoon, locals are advised to stay hydrated, avoid peak afternoon sun, and keep an eye on weather updates.
