Himachal Announces 300 New Government Jobs for Youth

In a significant boost for job seekers, the Himachal Pradesh government has announced plans to fill hundreds of vacancies in the Panchayati Raj department, offering new opportunities for the state’s youth.

The announcement was made by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, Anirudh Singh, during the state assembly’s monsoon session. This move is a direct follow-up to the government’s budget promise earlier this year to create more public sector employment.

The news comes as a welcome relief for many who have been anxiously waiting for job openings. The initial phase will see 300 posts for Panchayat Secretaries filled. Minister Singh confirmed that the financial approval for these positions has been secured and the recruitment process is moving forward.

· The Plan: The government is starting by recruiting for 300 posts, with more likely to follow.
· The Process: The department is currently finalizing updates to its Recruitment & Promotion (R&P) Rules to streamline the hiring. Minister Singh assured that this step will be completed swiftly to expedite the appointments.
· The bigger picture: Currently, a total of 899 Panchayat Secretary posts are vacant across the state, indicating that this first wave of hiring is just the beginning.
· Who’s Hiring? These new positions will be under the Zila Parishad (District Council) cadre.
· More Opportunities: The government also plans to fill positions for sewing teachers based on reservation quotas.

This initiative represents a concrete step by the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government to address unemployment and strengthen grassroots governance by filling crucial vacancies in the state’s panchayati raj system.
