Heavy Rainfall Disrupts 115 Roads and 212 Power Transformers, Orange Alert Issued for Two Days in Himachal

Significant rainfall in various parts of Himachal Pradesh has led to landslides and debris flow, severely impacting road traffic. According to the State Emergency Operations Center, by 10:00 AM on Thursday, 115 roads across the state were blocked, with Mandi district experiencing the most disruptions. Additionally, 212 power transformers have been affected, and 17 water supply schemes have been halted due to silt accumulation. Heavy rain also hit Shimla and other regions, with rainfall recorded at 110.9 mm in Sundernagar, 109.4 mm in Palampur, 84.6 mm in Baggi, 84.0 mm in Shimla, 80.0 mm in Gohar, 79.8 mm in Solan, 78.5 mm in Mashobra, 75.0 mm in Jogindernagar, and 70.0 mm in Baijnath.

Heavy Rainfall Closes Several Roads in Sundernagar

Continuous rainfall since late night in Sundernagar, Mandi district, has led to the complete closure of several road routes. The Sub-Divisional Officer has advised against traveling on these routes. Sub-Divisional Officer Civil Sundernagar, Girish Samra, announced that the Salapar-Serakothi, Pandar-Tattapani, Maloh-Kateru, Khurahal-Kandar, Kateru-Salapar-Podakothi, Karangal-Kinder, and Salapar-Tattapani routes are completely closed. He advised avoiding travel in hilly areas during heavy rain and to contact the district administration or the sub-divisional administration at 01907-266001 in any emergency. Additionally, the Sarkaghat-Maseran road is blocked near Maseran Galu due to a landslide.

Flood-like Situation in Talehan, Karsog Areas: Roads Turn into Streams, Buses Stuck in Debris

Heavy rainfall has severely disrupted life in Mandi district. Talehan in Karsog sub-division is experiencing flood-like conditions. HRTC buses and several other vehicles are trapped in debris. The buses, which were parked for the night on Wednesday, were engulfed by debris flow around 4:00 AM on Thursday. Many buses and other vehicles stuck in the debris, with the road completely disintegrated and turned into a stream due to the debris flow.
