Govind Sagar Lake to Emerge on World Tourism Map: Divyangana Mehta
Adventure sports like river rafting, fishing, and golf will be promoted in Himachal Pradesh to boost tourism.
A meeting of the Kahlur Adventures Water and Aero Allied Sports Society was held at a private hotel located in Gram Panchayat Damli Rishikesh, Dharadsani. The event was graced by Ishan Akhtar, State General Secretary of the Himachal Adventures Water and Aero Allied Sports Association, and Divyangana Mehta, State Co-Secretary, as the chief guests.
During the meeting, society president Sarit Kumar Sharma, along with Ashok Sharma and Anantaram Sharma, honored Ishan Akhtar and Divyangana Mehta with traditional Himachali caps and shawls. Office bearers of the Kahlur Adventure Water and Paragliding Sports Association, including Nirmala Rajput, Sarit Kumar Sharma, Mahendra Kumar, Ashok Sharma, and Anantaram Sharma, collectively acknowledged that due to Ishan Akhtar’s consistent efforts over the past 10 years, Govind Sagar Lake has secured a place on the tourism map.
Ishan Akhtar has been committed to nurturing local talent in water sports and consistently provides platforms at district, state, and national levels.
While addressing the gathering, both Ishan Akhtar and Divyangana Mehta highlighted that the primary objective of the Himachal Adventures Water and Aero Allied Sports Association is to establish Himachal Pradesh as an adventure sports hub. They emphasized that Himachal Pradesh, with its unique terrain and landscape, is a paradise for trekkers, mountaineers, and adventure enthusiasts.
They also pointed out the immense potential for promoting tourism in Bilaspur district. The association plans to introduce and encourage adventure sports like trekking, rock climbing, hang gliding, skiing, water skiing, river rafting, fishing, and golf courses in the region.
Prominent attendees at the event included Prem Lal, Pyar Singh, Bhupendra Thakur, Ashari Devi, and Shalini Sharma.
