Government should not show the path of struggle in old age: Melaram Sharma

 Sirmaur District Retired Officers Employees Welfare Association spokesperson Mela Ram Sharma and officials SR Rana and Kundan Rana have urged the Sukhu government of Himachal Pradesh to provide gratuity, leave encashment, etc. to the retired employees as per the increased pay scale of the Sixth Pay Commission from 2016. DA increase and other allowances should be paid immediately. While talking to the journalists, Melaram Sharma said that the retired officers and employees of the state at the last stage of their lives have been waiting for the payment of the increments of the Sixth Pay Commission for the last 5-6 years but the government has not released these increments yet.

He said that in the last 5-6 years, many retired officers and employees have gone to heaven without taking salary and allowances and lakhs of retired officers and employees of Himachal Pradesh are facing a lot of problems due to financial constraints at this age. He said that at this stage of age, there are many types of financial burdens on retired officers and employees, to fulfill this they have to take many types of loans from banks at huge interest rates for the construction of houses, the marriage of children purchase of personal vehicles, etc. On the other hand, the payment of an increase in the Sixth Pay Commission is pending with the government. He said that after the year 2016, the arrears of the Sixth Pay Commission, which they should have received about 5-6 years ago, are continuously decreasing due to inflation and on the other hand, retired employees and officers are paying huge interest on bank loans. Have been. He said that the retired employees have spent their entire lives in the service of the government and in their old age, they have to struggle with many types of diseases for which there is an urgent need for money. In such a situation, he has urged the state government to immediately pay the arrears of the Sixth Pay Commission increase, gratuity, encashment, commutation, etc. so that retired officers and employees at the last stage of their lives can take advantage of their lifetime earnings. He drew the attention of the Chief Minister of the state, Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukku, to the fact that due to this attitude of the government, not only are they facing financial crisis but their fundamental rights are also being violated because the employees and officers who are not eligible for 2022 After retirement, they are getting full economic benefits as per the Sixth Pay Commission, whereas before this, the economic benefits of retired officers and employees have been lying with the government for the last 5 years.

He urged the government not to push them on the path of struggle to get their economic benefits at this stage of their age and to pay their arrears to the soon-to-be-retired officers and employees as per the increases of the Sixth Pay Commission.
