Government should help orchardists in getting fair price for apples: Chetan Bragta
Due to the negligence and incompetence of the state Congress government, apple growers are feeling disappointed and frustrated. BJP state spokesperson Chetan Baragata said that the produce of the growers is being sold at cheap prices in the markets. The state government and APMC have no control over the markets of Himachal. Traders and buyers are being given a free hand to buy apples at throwaway prices.
Baragata said that such a system can lead to suspicion of collusion. For the first time in the history of apple trade, the price of apple has fallen by a record 1000 to 1500 rupees within two days. Whereas earlier, the fall was only of 100 to 200 rupees. Anyway, this is a matter of concern, the government is demanded to immediately intervene in this matter and help the orchardists in getting a fair price for apples.
Baragata said that it is surprising that the ministers and MLAs in the Congress government belonging to the apple-rich region have maintained silence on the decline in apple production and other inconveniences faced by the orchardists. Whereas in the elections, the Congress had said in its manifesto in the fifth guarantee that orchardists will decide the price of the fruits. Today, the orchardists want to know where has that guarantee of Congress gone.
Till date, Congress has only misled the farmers and gardeners. Whereas in the previous BJP government, former Horticulture Minister Narendra Bragta has set many records in the field of horticulture keeping in mind the interests of the gardeners. Which the gardeners will always remember.
