Going Solar Gets Easier in Himachal as HPERC Brings in Paperless Approval Process
Installing a rooftop solar system in Himachal Pradesh is set to become much simpler and hassle-free. In a consumer-friendly move, the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (HPERC) has allowed digital solar metering connection agreements to be accepted through online government solar portals, eliminating the need for extensive paperwork.
Under the latest amendment to the HPERC Rooftop Solar PV Grid Interactive System Regulations, 2015, consumers applying for rooftop solar connections through Central or State government solar schemes can now submit their solar metering agreements digitally. Power distribution companies will be required to recognize and accept these online agreements along with the application process.
The change means residents no longer have to rely solely on physical documents or make multiple visits to electricity board offices to complete formalities. Instead, much of the process can now be completed online, making rooftop solar adoption quicker and more convenient.
