Geologist panel inspected schools and other vulnerable places in Shimla town

The state of Himachal Pradesh facing a sudden geological phenomenon of massive landslide constituted a panel of geologists to inspect vulnerable places including a School complex in the capital town on Thursday.

At the request of Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi the Industries Department appointed and deployed a five-member committee of geologists in the town.

Mr. Aditya Negi said that a committee assessed the various vulnerable places and schools in Shimla and suggested immediate preventive measures along with the damage caused due to heavy rains.

 The committee inspected the Indian Institute of Higher Studies Shimla, Police Line Kaithu, Loreto Tara Hall School, and Dayanand Public School in Shimla city on the first day today.

 The Deputy Commissioner was also present on the occasion. The team would also inspect other places in the coming days and after inspection, the committee would submit its investigation report.

 Geologists Anil Kumar Singh Rana, Gaurav Sharma, Suresh Bhardwaj, and Atul Sharma are included in this committee as members, and Assistant Geologist Sunil Verma as member secretary.

 It is worth mentioning that in the past few days, regarding the demand coming from different areas, the Industries Department today sent a team of geologists to inspect all the schools and various unsafe places in Shimla city, and Corrective action can be initiated accordingly. 

This committee would also inspect all the required areas in consultation with the district administration and submit the report immediately.
