Fraudsters dupes State Transport Department, Rs 1.50 Cr VVIP Scooty number auctions found fake
Any gullible can be expected to becomes victim of cyber crime but it Himachal Pradesh Transport Department which was duped by three fake bidders. According to Additional Director of the Transport Department Hemis Negi that three fake bidders quoted more than one crore bids in a fraudulent during online auction of VVIP number HP-09-9999. On the investigation it turned out that all the top three bidders found .Under the new system, three tops bidders should deposit 30 per cent of total amount of biddings. If the highest bidder does not buy the number after bidding, then 30% of the amount would be forfeited and the number would be allotted to next bidders on the public domain. Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu order a cyber crime probe after this action was done. Till last Sunday auction Portal could not showed any response and from first to Third bidders who participated in the auction process turned out to be fake. Taking action in the matter, the Himachal Transport Department has suspended the VVIP fancy number portal. Some new changes and upgrades are being done in the portal. For this, the Transport Department has asked NIC (National Informatics Center) to improve the portal. Bidding will be done in a new way after the software is updated. First bidders have applied from Hotel Peterhoff Shimla, Second from Palampur of Kangra district and Third from Industrial township Baddi of Solan district. Their addresses were also found fake. It is worthwhile to mention that online transactions and deals are not foolproof if Government agencies could be dupe by the fraudsters the scale of crime on gullible people could be estimated. A source in cyber cell stated that large numbers of people are being duped on day to day basis matter remained pending with the cyber police station for years to be sorted out. From Government agencies, Businessman, Employees, Senior Officers including bureaucrats are among victims of cyber crime.
