Four generations unite as Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti marks 34 years of legacy
The Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti celebrated its 34th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm on November 23 at the Science Auditorium of Himachal Pradesh University. The event brought together committee members from across the state to reflect on decades of collective efforts and achievements.
As a mark of respect, senior members aged over 80 were honored with the Gyan Vigyan Samman for their lifelong contributions. Esteemed individuals, including Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar, founder president of the Samiti and Himachal Science Forum’s founding secretary; Dr. Kulwinder Singh, the committee’s founding secretary; and Joginder Walia, founder secretary of the Society for Technology and Development, were presented with mementos. Special guests Padma Shri Dr. Omesh Bharti and Padma Shri Nek Ram Sharma were also felicitated for their extraordinary contributions to society. Additionally, the Mandi Literacy and People’s Development Committee received recognition for its impactful social work.
Strength in Unity and Legacy
Addressing the gathering, state secretary Satyawan Pundir emphasized the importance of camaraderie and collective effort within the organization. “Our energy and enthusiasm multiply when we inspire and support each other,” he said, highlighting the committee’s distinct identity rooted in its rich history and collaborative spirit.
The event stood out as a unique confluence of four generations who have led and nurtured the Samiti through different phases of its journey. Founder president Dr. Tanwar encouraged members to deepen their focus on key issues like education, scientific awareness, environmental conservation, health, gender equality, and addressing the growing menace of drug abuse among the youth.
Special guest Dr. P.C. Negi praised the Samiti’s efforts, emphasizing the urgent need for targeted action on health and environmental challenges—areas where the organization has consistently made meaningful contributions.
Gratitude and Collaboration
State vice president Jiyanand Sharma expressed heartfelt thanks to the guests, participants, and supporters who made the event a success. He specifically acknowledged the contributions of local units from Mandi, Kullu, Solan, and Shoghi, as well as the Multi-Specialty Hospital Sanjauli, for their unwavering support. Special appreciation was also extended to the Lok Sanskritik Manch of Himachal Pradesh University and local councilor Virendra Thakur for their efforts in making the event memorable.
The day’s celebration was a testament to the power of unity, the value of legacy, and the collective drive to continue serving society with passion and purpose.
