Farmers Lead the Way: Sirmaur Tops Himachal’s Paddy Procurement Drive

Across Himachal Pradesh, the rhythm of harvest season is in full swing as farmers bring in their paddy crops to local grain markets. Since the government began procurement on October 3, over 16,000 metric tons of paddy have been purchased — a testament to the hard work and dedication of thousands of farmers.

Sirmaur Farmers Shine Bright

The district of Sirmaur has emerged as a frontrunner, with its two major markets — Paonta Sahib and Dhaula Kuan — collectively contributing 6,812 metric tons of paddy. Nearly 1,700 farmers from the region have already sold their produce, and the momentum continues. Civil Supplies Corporation’s Area Manager, Naresh Kumar, praised the district’s performance, noting the efficient arrangements made to support farmers during the procurement process.

Direct Payments Empowering Farmers

To date, the government has credited ₹30.74 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 3,000 farmers, ensuring timely and transparent payments. At Paonta Sahib, 955 farmers supplied 4,285.35 metric tons, while Dhaula Kuan saw 710 farmers sell 2,527.16 metric tons.
