Empowering Mahli’s Youth: A Collective Pledge to Reject Drugs

In a stirring initiative to safeguard the future of its young generation, the Government Senior Secondary School in Mahli transformed into a hub of awareness and resolve on Monday. Spearheaded by the Lions Club Shimla, the event carried a powerful, life-affirming message aimed squarely at the rising shadow of substance abuse.

Addressing the gathered students, Lion Manmohan Verma painted a stark picture of reality—emphasizing how addiction often takes root not through deliberate choice, but through the subtle traps of curiosity, peer pressure, or a single experimental moment. He walked the students through the devastating side effects of dependency while offering a clear roadmap to prevention, urging them to reclaim their power by firmly saying “no” to the very first step.

Aligning with the club’s guiding motto, “We Serve,” the organization reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to the community, channeling its efforts into health, education, and youth welfare. Yet, the day wasn’t just about speeches; it was about tangible action. Understanding that a healthy body is the first line of defense, the club installed a brand-new 80-litre Aquaguard water purification system within the school premises, ensuring that every child has access to clean, safe drinking water throughout the day.

The atmosphere buzzed with solidarity as the school’s Principal, Suman Chandel, alongside dedicated members like Lion Engineer MK Sharma, Gopal Krishna Vaidya, and Subhash Agarwal, stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the students—creating a protective circle of encouragement and hope for a drug-free future.
