Earthquake Rocks Kangra: No Reported Loss of Life or Property
This afternoon, at 14:27 hrs, Kangra Valley experienced an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was located in Kangra, with no reported loss of life or property.
Panic-stricken residents rushed out of their homes as the entire valley felt the tremor. The earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.6, had coordinates of latitude 32.27 North and longitude 76.19 East, and a depth of 5 km in the Kangra region.
Reports of the earthquake came in from various parts of the district, including Palampur, Dharamshala, Shahapur, and other areas. The tremor lasted only a few seconds.
Official sources confirmed that there were no reports of any casualties or damage to property following the tremors in the valley.
Kangra Valley, located in seismic Zone V, has a history of earthquakes. On April 4, 1905, a devastating earthquake in the region claimed 10,527 lives in the Kangra temple town and caused property damage worth crores of rupees.
Thankfully, today’s earthquake caused no loss of life or property.
