Dr. Yogesh Bhardwaj Nominated to National Dental Advisory Council: A Proud Moment for Himachal

The Government of India, through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Dental Education Section), has constituted the Dental Advisory Council under the National Dental Commission Act, 2023, as notified on 20 April 2026. This newly formed national body will play a key role in shaping policies and standards for dental education and oral healthcare across the country.

It is a moment of immense pride for Himachal Pradesh that Dr. Yogesh Bhardwaj, currently serving as Principal, Government Dental College & Hospital, Shimla, has been nominated to this prestigious Council as a State Nominee. His inclusion brings recognition not only to his personal achievements but also to the State’s growing contribution to national-level healthcare governance.

Dr. Bhardwaj has had a distinguished academic and professional career. Prior to his current role, he served as Vice Principal-cum-Professor and Head of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, where he made notable contributions to dental education, advanced clinical care, and institutional administration. A respected name in his specialty, he has been associated for over nine years with AOCMF, a globally renowned association of head and neck surgeons based in Switzerland, serving as an international faculty member.

An accomplished academician and speaker, Dr. Bhardwaj has delivered lectures at numerous national and international conferences and has presented more than 40 keynote addresses as an invited faculty member. His work has been widely published in reputed national and international journals of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, a specialty focused on surgical treatment of conditions affecting the head, face, mouth, and jaws. His nomination to the Dental Advisory Council stands as a testament to his expertise, dedication, and long-standing service to the profession.

Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Bhardwaj thanked the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh for placing confidence in him. He affirmed his commitment to carry out this responsibility with sincerity and purpose, emphasizing his focus on strengthening dental education, research, and oral healthcare initiatives. He also assured that he would make every effort to effectively represent Himachal Pradesh at the national level and contribute meaningfully to policy formulation and the advancement of dental services in India.

The representation of Himachal Pradesh in the Dental Advisory Council is expected to amplify the State’s voice in national policymaking and contribute towards improving standards in dental education and healthcare delivery, marking a significant step forward for the State and the profession alike.
