Dr. Jitendra Singh Champions Science and Innovation at CSIR-IHBT Event
Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, and Vice President of CSIR, recently graced the EMBO International Workshop and a meeting of industry leaders, farmers, and academicians organized by CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT) in Palampur. Participating online, Dr. Singh highlighted the institute’s significant contributions to the bio-economy of the Himalayan region.
In his address, Dr. Singh praised the institute’s efforts in promoting startups and incubatees, expressing his delight over the success of initiatives like the Floriculture and Aroma Mission and the Nutrition Friend Campaign. He emphasized the importance of making scientific advancements accessible to the common man, with a special mention of the role of media and social media in this endeavor.
Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Director of CSIR-IHBT, welcomed the minister and other dignitaries, showcasing the institute’s achievements and its role in fostering self-reliance and inclusive development. The event also saw the inauguration of several new facilities, including a tulip garden, autonomous greenhouse, and phyto-analytical facility, among others.
The occasion was marked by the release of five publications and the signing of two technology transfer agreements. The event underscored the collaborative spirit and commitment to innovation that drives CSIR-IHBT’s mission.
