CS hold review meeting for preparedness of upcoming monsoons
A high-level review meeting presided over by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena was held here today to discuss preparations for the upcoming monsoon season.
The Chief Secretary directed the concerned officials to train civil defence volunteers, co-ordinate closely with dam management authorities and make full arrangements for reopening blocked roads and restoring water supply schemes in case of damage during monsoon.
All the Deputy Commissioners were directed to prepare and implement action plans at the district level.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) gave a presentation on the monsoon forecast, previous weather trends and the warning systems. The Central Water Commission also shared information on flood forecasting and early warning systems.
Departments like Home Guards, Civil Defence and Fire Services along with representatives from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) briefed about the preparedness, available equipment etc.
Important issues pertaining to monsoons were discussed in detail to ensure an effective response during any disaster caused by heavy rains or landslides.
Earlier, D.C. Rana, Director and Special Secretary (Revenue and Disaster), gave a detailed report on the steps already taken for monsoon preparedness in Himachal Pradesh.
Senior officers, including Additional Chief Secretary K.K. Pant, Secretaries and Heads of various departments and officials from health, police, PWD, Jal Shakti, HPSEB, Home Guards, and Fire Services, also attended the meeting.
