Cordial Interaction Between Employees Association and Director at IIAS – Positive Discussion on Employee Welfare Issues

The office bearers and members of the newly constituted Executive Committee of the Employees’ Association of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Rashtrapati Niwas, Shimla, paid a courtesy visit to Professor Himanshu Kumar Chaturvedi, Director of the Institute, and held detailed discussions on various matters related to employee welfare. The meeting was conducted in a highly cordial, positive, and constructive atmosphere, during which several issues concerning the overall interests of the Institute, work culture, and facilities for employees were deliberated upon.

During the meeting, the Employees’ Association placed before the Director various suggestions and demands pertaining to the expansion of healthcare facilities for employees and their dependent family members, improvement in working conditions, simplification of administrative procedures, and other welfare-related matters. In this context, a memorandum regarding the provision of CGHS facilities for employees and their dependent family members was also submitted.

The Director listened to the concerns and suggestions of the representatives of the Employees’ Association with seriousness and sensitivity and assured them that all possible positive initiatives would be undertaken in matters concerning employee welfare. During the meeting, consensus was also reached on resolving certain issues at the immediate level, while other matters were proposed to be taken forward for consideration at the appropriate levels as per rules and procedures.

Professor Himanshu Kumar Chaturvedi, Director of IIAS, stated, “The work culture of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study has always been based on dialogue, participation, and mutual trust. The employees are an important strength of the Institute, and necessary steps will continue to be taken by giving priority to their welfare, convenience, and a positive working environment. Institutional interests and employee interests are complementary to each other, and maintaining a balance between the two remains a priority of the administration.”

Mr. Deepak Sharma, President of the Employees’ Association, said after the meeting, “The fact that the Director listened to the concerns of the Employees’ Association with seriousness and warmth is highly encouraging for the employees. Today’s meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, which has further strengthened the belief that the tradition of positive dialogue and cooperation on issues related to employee welfare will continue in the future as well.”

Members of the newly elected Executive Committee of the Employees’ Association were also present during the meeting, including President Mr. Deepak Sharma, General Secretary Dr. Akhilesh Pathak, Vice-President Mr. Ram krishan, Joint Secretary Mr. Surender Ramola, Treasurer Mr. Devendra Singh, members Mr. Deepender Parashar, Mr. Gopal Singh, Mr. Aman Verma, Mr. Bhuvneshwar, Mrs. Rajni, and Advisor Mr. Rajesh Kumar.

During the meeting, consensus was also expressed on maintaining a positive and cooperative work environment in the Institute, continuing the process of dialogue, and further strengthening the academic and administrative environment of the Institute. The Employees’ Association expressed gratitude to the Director and reiterated its commitment to maintaining constructive cooperation in the future as well.
