Construction work of double lane Lakhoti Bridge started after 12 years
After a long gap of 12 years, the construction of a double lane bridge on Giri river near Lakhoti has started on a war footing. With its construction, the distance for the people of Balog Panchayat to reach Shargaon village of Sirmaur situated on the border will be reduced to just eight kilometers, whereas people had to travel 43 kilometers via Gowda to reach Shargaon. There is a wave of happiness in the entire Balog Panchayat due to the start of the construction of this bridge.
Let us tell you that the foundation stone was laid on 20th August, 2012 by former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Giri river on Dublu-Lakhoti-Shargaon road of Junga area in which a 75 meter span bridge was proposed to be built. After this, the tenure of three governments was completed but no government took care of this bridge.
It is worth noting that this burning issue was prominently raised by the local people in front of the media, on which the state government ordered PWD to prepare the DPR and an amount of 11.82 crores has been sanctioned for this bridge from NABARD. This has been confirmed by Assistant Engineer PWD Sub Division Junga Devesh Thakur. He told that the construction work of this bridge has been awarded to M/s Vijay Kapoor Construction for 10 crores. He told that the work of footing of the bridge on both sides of Giri river was completed and now the work of iron fabrication is in progress. He told that the target has been set to complete the construction work of this bridge by March 2026.
