Congress party leaders, office bearers, and workers remembered Virbhadra Singh

On the 91st birth anniversary of the late Virbhadra Singh, the six-time Chief Minister of the state, party leaders, office bearers and workers in all the blocks of the State Congress today remembered him and paid homage to his photograph.

After offering flowers to the portrait of Virbhadra Singh at the State Congress Headquarters Rajiv Bhawan, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that Virbhadra Singh has been his source of inspiration. Virbhadra Singh has made a huge contribution to the development of modern Himachal. The aim of the Congress is to carry forward his development thinking and work, this will be the true tribute of the Congress to him.

The Chief Minister said that he learnt a lot from Virbhadra Singh from student politics to becoming an MLA. He said that as the Chief Minister, it is his priority to carry forward his work.

State Congress President and former MP Pratibha Singh has said that the important contribution of late Virbhadra Singh in the development of the state will always be remembered. She has said that while the first Chief Minister of the state Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar had laid the foundation of this state, Virbhadra Singh will always be known as the creator of modern Himachal.

Pratibha Singh said that even though these two pious souls are no longer amongst us, their ideals still guide us. She said that Virbhadra Singh was such an institution of politics whose farsighted thinking has made Himachal Pradesh known as an ideal model of hill states in the country.

During this time, the party leaders paid their tributes to Virbhadra Singh by offering flowers on his photograph and paid their emotional tribute to him.

On this occasion, Virbhadra Singh’s daughter, retired Chief Justice and former member Lokpal Abhilasha Singh also paid her tribute at the state Congress headquarters.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has said that the statue of former Chief Minister Late Virbhadra Singh will soon be installed on the Ridge ground in Shimla. A suitable place is being searched for this. He said that Virbhadra Singh is a very big name in the politics of the country. The six-time Chief Minister of the state has also contributed a lot to the development of the state, so his statue will be installed in his memory.

The Chief Minister said that the assembly by-elections in the state have been a part of the political conspiracy of the BJP. He said that everyone saw the way unsuccessful attempts were made to destabilize the Congress government with full majority in the state using money power. He said that the assembly by-elections are the gift of the BJP.

Sukhu said that the premature resignation of three independent MLAs from the assembly is also a part of BJP’s conspiracy. He said that this was probably the first time in the history of the country when an independent has resigned from the assembly before time saying that they were not being heard in the Congress government. He called it completely ridiculous and said that an independent MLA who has won and reached the assembly can support any party. In such a situation, only he can tell why he felt the need to resign from his post. He said that in front of money power, these independent MLAs have resigned from their posts and now their defeat in these elections is certain. He said that people had elected them to the assembly for full five years and they have broken the trust of the people.

Sukhu said that the victory of Congress is certain in the three by-elections and after this the number of Congress MLAs in the state will increase from 38 to 41. He said that the Congress government in the state is completely strong and stable and will complete its term successfully.
