Congress Leaders Remember Dr. Y.S. Parmar, Call for Strengthening His Legacy
State Congress President Vinay Kumar on Sunday paid glowing tribute to Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar, Himachal Pradesh’s first Chief Minister, remembering him as the architect of the state’s foundation and identity. He said Dr. Parmar’s contribution to the formation and development of Himachal Pradesh was so immense that the state could never truly repay its debt to him.
Recalling his visionary leadership, Vinay Kumar said that without Dr. Parmar’s tireless efforts, Himachal Pradesh may not have achieved full statehood or emerged in its present form. He described Dr. Parmar as a leader of exceptional vision and simplicity, whose ideals and values continue to guide both the state and the Congress party even today.
Vinay Kumar added that the best way to honour Dr. Parmar’s memory would be to work unitedly to strengthen his legacy, reinforce the Congress organisation in the state, and actively contribute to Himachal Pradesh’s overall development.
Echoing similar sentiments, State Congress Vice President Amit Nanda, speaking at a programme held at the party’s state headquarters, Rajiv Bhawan, highlighted Dr. Parmar’s role in preserving the unique character of Himachal Pradesh. He noted that Section 118 of the Land Reform Act, which protects the state’s land rights, remains one of Dr. Parmar’s most enduring contributions.
Several senior party leaders and workers participated in the tribute ceremony, including Congress General Secretary Dharmendra Dhami, Indian Youth Congress National General Secretary Shesh Narayan Ojha, Shimla Urban District Congress President Indrajit Singh, along with Kanwar Narendra Singh, Uma Verma, Satya Verma, Shashi Jasu, Santosh Sharma, Dixit Jogta, Mukesh Bhatia, Purnima, Poonam Chopra, Atul Thakur, Nagru Ram, Sen Ram Negi, Mahendra Jeet Singh, Pankaj Singh, Divansh and many others.
