Congress government’s corruption in road repair exposed: Sandipani
There should be a high-level investigation into the poor quality of road repair work
BJP State spokesperson Sandipani Bhardwaj said that only corruption is prevalent in the Congress Party government, look at any department or any government work, without corruption in all, the system change of the Congress Party government is not complete.
He said that earlier, there were potholes in the roads and roads in the potholes, but now the government has opened a door to corruption to fill those potholes. The hopes of the people of Theog, Shimla district, who have been suffering for two years due to the poor condition of National Highway 5, appear to be dashed once again. Questions have been raised about the ongoing tarring work, bringing the Public Works Department’s performance under scrutiny once again. Serious negligence regarding the quality of roads constructed by Minister Vikramaditya Singh’s department has come to light in the Theog area. The tarring, done just three days ago on National Highway 5, is now peeling off in places, exposing the claims of durable construction at a cost of crores. Recently, MLA Kuldeep Rathore inaugurated the tarring of a 2.25-kilometer stretch in Theog market by performing a puja. This road is expected to cost ₹3.23 crore (US$3.23 billion), and locals had hoped for relief from their long-standing problems. However, within days, the asphalt layers have begun peeling off. Locals expressed displeasure over this poor quality, saying that the government spends crores of rupees annually on road repairs, but within months, the roads break down again. The public alleges that Vikramaditya Singh may speak of quality roads from public platforms, but departmental officials are only showing progress on paper. People say that when millions of rupees are being spent, the department should take weather and technology into account. They demanded a high-level investigation into the entire matter, and strict action should be taken against the contractor.
He said that this situation exists throughout the state, where corruption is rampant wherever repair work is underway. Contractors colluding with the Congress party are getting work and receiving payments for such shoddy work, but on the other hand, contractors who are working honestly are not getting their bills cleared.
