Congress government wants to influence elections by calling cabinet meeting amid code of conduct: Harsh Mahajan
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Harsh Mahajan raised serious questions about the Himachal Pradesh government’s cabinet meeting held during the code of conduct, saying that the Congress government was openly flouting democratic norms and the election code of conduct. He said that the code of conduct is in effect across the state due to Panchayat, BDC, and Zila Parishad elections, and the sudden calling of a cabinet meeting at such a time raises many doubts.
Harsh Mahajan said that according to information, several cabinet decisions have been taken that could directly impact the election results. The government has made announcements aimed at women, created new positions, and even approved new SDM and ENC offices. All of this, done in the midst of the election process, clearly demonstrates the Congress government’s intentions.
He said that the Congress Party and its leaders always talk about morality and the Constitution, but when it comes to enforcing the rules themselves, their double standards are exposed. This attempt to misuse power and influence elections is highly condemnable and a threat to democracy.
The Rajya Sabha MP said that until the election process was complete, the government should have refrained from making or publicizing any decisions that could directly impact voters and the election environment. However, the Congress government is constantly attempting to gain political advantage through government machinery and announcements.
Harsh Mahajan alleged that government-linked sources are now systematically planting news in the media to influence the election atmosphere. He said this entire process is against the spirit of fair elections and the BJP will seriously raise this matter with the Election Commission.
He demanded that the Election Commission immediately review these Cabinet decisions and prohibit the implementation and publication of such decisions until the election process is complete. The BJP will take every constitutional step to protect democracy and a fair election process.
