Congress government is ready to conditional reopening of closed institutions

The institutions closed by the Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government of Himachal Pradesh will reopen on the conditional basis. This was stated by  Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, in response to the discussion in the State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday under Rule 67 as motion was brought by opposition about closure of number of institutions by the state government. He said that wherever necessary, closed institutions would be reopened. The house in absence of opposition rejected the adjournment motion with voice votes after the Chief minister reply. Earlier responding to the discussion on the suspending entire business to discuss Denotification of institution by govt, Chief Minister said that the state government has taken a policy decision to denotify all the institutions opened after April 1, 2022.  Under this, these institutions have been closed and now a decision is being taken to open them according to the need.  He said that the former BJP government opened hundreds of institutions without budget and staff.  He said that 12 thousand posts of teachers are lying vacant in the education department.  Despite this, the previous government opened hundreds of educational institutions just to get electoral gains. The Chief Minister said that his government would first fill up all the vacant posts of lecturers and then open new institutes on need basis.  He said that 4145 schools in the state were running with only one teacher, while 455 schools did not have a single teacher.  He said that a budget provision of one lakh rupees each was made for the 23 colleges opened in the election year by the former BJP government.  Similarly, out of 140 health institutions opened by the previous BJP government, only 9 institutions were approved by the Finance Department.  Similarly, hundreds of institutions were opened without budget provision in other departments including revenue.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harsh Vardhan Chouhan, while replying to the discussion on Rule 67, termed the ruckus created by the opposition as BJP unbecoming members of August house. He condemned this behavior of the opposition and said that the entire opposition was present in the House during the Chief Minister’s reply.  In such a situation, there is no justification for going out of the House after the reply of the Chief Minister.  He also said that former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur opened more than 80 percent institutions in the last six months of his tenure.  Chouhan said that the people of the state have rejected the BJP and they are perturbed over it as they could not able to tolerate it.  He termed today’s opposition’s performance as fact less and said that the opposition was not even ready for discussion.  The Parliamentary Affairs Minister also said that the ruling party is extending full cooperation for the smooth running of the House, but the opposition is not cooperating in this matter. He said that during the participation by all the members it appeared that they didn’t turn up with homework as they tried to digress and trivialized the discussion not being serious on the issue in the house. He said that house summoned for important business of budget session accepted the adjournment motion but opposition remained fail to establish their seriousness on the subject matter during the debate.
