Congress claims decisive municipal win as voters endorse its policies
Claiming a one-sided victory for the party in the municipal elections, the state Congress said that the people of the state have put their stamp of approval on the policies of the Congress and the leadership of the organization and this has proved to be the semi-final of power in the 2027 assembly elections and the Congress will win the final as well and create history.
Today, while interacting with reporters at the state Congress headquarters, Rajiv Bhawan, Organization General Secretary Vinod Zinta debunked the BJP’s claims of victory in the municipal elections, saying that out of 47 municipal elections, Congress has swept the BJP by winning a landslide victory in 31. He said that the BJP did not win a single seat in the state’s largest districts, Kangra and Chamba, while Congress secured a clear majority in other districts.
Giving details district by district, Zinta said that Congress has won unilaterally in the elections of three municipal bodies in Chamba district, where BJP could not even open its account. Similarly, Congress has won 6 municipal bodies in Kangra, both municipal bodies in Hamirpur, Congress has won 5 out of 9 in Shimla district, Congress has won 2 and Congress alliance has won 2. Here BJP had to be satisfied with only 2 municipal bodies. Congress has won 2 out of 3 municipal bodies in Sirmaur district, Congress has won 2 out of 4 in Solan district. She said that where Congress has been weak, the shortcomings will be assessed and removed. She said that the election results of four municipal corporations on May 31 will also be in favor of Congress.
Taking the BJP to task, Vinod Zinta said that although the Congress did not declare its official candidates for the municipal elections, the victory of all the party workers who stood in these elections has proved that public opinion in the state is in favor of the Congress. He said that the BJP had officially declared its candidates, who faced a crushing defeat. He strongly criticized BJP leaders, saying that the BJP respects neither democracy nor public opinion. He said that the BJP cannot mislead the people of the state.
Expressing gratitude to the people of the state on behalf of the party, Zinta said that Congress will never back down from its work for the development of the state and for the public welfare. She also promised that Congress will have a strong performance in the Panchayat Raj Institution elections.
