CM Sukhu urges people to actively participate in Census 2026

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has urged the people of the state to make maximum use of the “Self-Enumeration” facility provided by the Directorate of Census Operations. He said that citizens can submit their information online through the self-enumeration portal se.census.gov.in from 1st June to 15th June, 2026.

The Chief Minister said that the census is the backbone of democracy and development. It serves as an important tool for obtaining information about the population, family conditions, housing, resources and the facilities available to citizens. Such data plays a crucial role in planning and policy formulation.

Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the census in Himachal Pradesh will be conducted in two phases. During the first phase, house listing and housing census will be conducted from 16th June  to 15th July, 2026. The second phase will involve population enumeration.

He said that the census will be conducted in digital mode this time, with enumerators and supervisors using mobile devices to collect information related to houses and households.

The Chief Minister further informed that the second phase of census operations in the snow-bound areas of Himachal Pradesh will be conducted from 11th September to 30th September, 2026, while in the remaining areas it will be carried out from 9th February  to 28th February, 2027.

The Chief Minister urged people to participate enthusiastically in this nationally important exercise and provide complete and accurate information to enumerators, supervisors and other census officials. He emphasized that the data collected through the census plays a vital role in helping the government formulate future development plans and policies.
