CM & Governor  pays floral tribute to former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee by garlanding his statue at The Ridge, Shimla, on the occasion of his 100th birth anniversary.

Speaking to media persons, the Chief Minister lauded Vajpayee’s immense contribution to the nation, describing him as an extraordinary statesman, an outstanding parliamentarian and a gifted poet. He said that Late Sh. Vajpayee had a deep affection for Himachal Pradesh and its people.

Responding to a question, the Chief Minister said that he was going to participate in the two-day Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Karnataka. He said that he also plans to meet Union Ministers on 28th December, where he would discuss pressing issues concerning Himachal Pradesh, including declining GST compensation, Revenue deficit Grants (RDG) and the state’s loan limit.

Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that during the tenure of the present state government, the pace of development in Himachal Pradesh has significantly increased, with enhanced revenue generation supporting infrastructure and public welfare initiatives.

Chief Minister’s Principal Media Advisor Naresh Chauhan, Mayor Surender Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla paid rich floral tributes to the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary at Shimla’s historic Ridge today.

On the occasion, the Governor said that Atal Ji was a great politician, statesman and the tallest leader of Indian politics who always remained upright for the cause of the nation. Apart from being a true nationalist and leader of great stature, he was also a great poet with a kind heart due to which he won the hearts of the people of the country.  He said that his various valuable contributions to the nation would always be remembered by the people. He was a preceptor of good governance, he added.

On this occasion, the Governor also inaugurated an exhibition based on the life of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, MLA Chopal Balbir Singh Verma, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Shimla, Surinder Chauhan, Former Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Shimla, Bhupinder Attri, senior officers and other prominent people were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, the Governor also paid floral tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at his portrait in Raj Bhavan. C.P. Verma, Secretary to the Governor and officials of the Raj Bhavan were also present on the occasion.
