Cloudburst near hydro project in Jhakri: 32 missing, rescue efforts underway
A cloudburst occurred near the hydro project in Samej Khad, Jhakri, in the Rampur area. The District Disaster Management Authority received the report early Thursday morning. Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap and Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi are heading to the location.
Upon receiving the information, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap stated that teams from the NDRF, police, and rescue squads were promptly dispatched. The incident has resulted in 32 people being reported missing from the affected region. SDM Rampur Nishant Tomar is also making his way to the site. Due to road blockages in several areas, they are navigating the last two kilometers on foot with the necessary equipment.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap also indicated that relief operations began immediately. The ITBP and special home guard units are participating in the rescue efforts. All teams are working in unison, utilizing ambulances and all essential resources for the operation.
Additionally, a committee has been established under the leadership of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, comprising members from the police, home guard, fire department, Sunni Dam management, and other departments. Further reports are awaited.
