Jyoti Thakur, in the women’s wrestling competition, also achieved the title with a stellar performance.
Interestingly, both winning wrestlers are former students of the Government Senior Secondary School of Excellence, Chiyog, and began their wrestling careers there. While still in school, both wrestlers brought glory to the school by performing exceptionally well in various wrestling competitions, including those at the state level.
School Principal Sandeep Kumar Sharma expressed his happiness over the achievement of both wrestlers, saying that Akash and Jyoti had demonstrated their passion and talent for wrestling since their school days. Today, their victory on the big stage is a matter of pride for the school and the entire region.
He informed that the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam has provided the school with mats for kabaddi and wrestling. This has increased the interest of the school students in sports like wrestling and kabaddi and is providing them with better practice facilities.
Principal Sandeep Kumar Sharma, on behalf of the entire school family, extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Akash and Jyoti Thakur for this achievement. He said that the success of both wrestlers is an inspiration to other youth in the area and will encourage students to pursue sports.
