Chhinj Mela Talai will be celebrated with great pomp on completion of the centenary

All preparations are complete for the Chhinj Fair, North India’s famous fair, to be held in Talai on September 28th. This year, the fair is being celebrated with great enthusiasm to mark its centenary, with renowned national and international wrestlers showcasing their strength. This information was provided by Dinesh Jagta, head of the local Panchayat and fair committee.
He stated that this year, the wrestler who wins the Badi Mali will receive a prize of ₹1.51 lakh. Additionally, this year, the Shimla Kesari Award has been established for young wrestlers from Shimla district, for which only wrestlers from Shimla district will be eligible to participate, with the maximum age limit being 21 years. The wrestler who wins the Shimla Kesari Award will receive a prize of ₹25,000.
Pradhan informed that the committee will also conduct a lucky draw at the fair in which the first prize will be an Alto-K10 car. While the second prize will be a scooter, the third prize will be a wood cutter, the fourth prize will be two Android mobile phones and the fifth prize will be five pruning scissors. He informed that the lucky draw coupons are available with the committee members and stalls for sale will also be set up at the fair. The raffle draw will be held before the big gardener.
Dinesh Jagta stated that the fair will begin with the traditional worship of Goddess Kali Deshu, followed by the fair committee’s worship of the arena. He explained that since ancient times, millions of people have flocked to see the Talai’s splashing water.
He said that the state’s renowned wrestler and social worker, Nahar Singh Chaudhary, will attend the fair as the chief guest. He added that the sponsor for the Badi Mali will be Ajit Gehlot of RAC Delhi, and the sponsor for the Himachal Kesari Award will be Hira Singh Jagta.
