Celebrating Himachal’s Heritage: Local Treasures Shine at ODOP Meet
The Department of Industries has given a new identity to Himachal Pradesh’s districts by spotlighting 12 unique products under the Government of India’s flagship One District One Product (ODOP) programme. From the delicate Chamba Rumal to the aromatic Kangra Tea and the warm Kullu Woolen Shawls, each product reflects the rich culture and craftsmanship of its region.
To take these treasures to bigger markets, the Department organized a Reverse Buyer–Seller Meet (RBSM) as part of the HIM MSME Fest 2026 in Shimla (January 3–5). The event wasn’t just about stalls and displays—it was about connecting local artisans with national platforms. Letters of Intent worth ₹5.29 crore were signed for 10 ODOP products, opening doors for sellers to reach e-commerce giants and reputed buyers.
Key organizations like Invest India, ONDC, NSIC, and FIEO joined hands to provide marketing support and networking opportunities. The event was chaired by the Hon’ble Industries Minister, alongside senior officials, who emphasized the importance of building strong brands and value chains for these district-specific products.
The Chief Minister, Sh. Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, urged regular follow-ups to ensure these agreements translate into real business, while Industries Minister Sh. Harshvardhan Chauhan highlighted the need to promote the remaining ODOP products in upcoming programmes to achieve balanced regional growth.
With vibrant stalls showcasing ginger garlic paste from Sirmaur, Chulli oil from Kinnaur, and Seabuckthorn products from Lahaul & Spiti, the meet became a celebration of Himachal’s diversity. More than just an exhibition, it marked a promising beginning for local entrepreneurs, reaffirming the state’s commitment to strengthening MSMEs and creating product-centric industrial hubs.
