Bomb Scare Disrupts Ner Chowk Medical College, Emergency Services Remain Open
A tense morning unfolded at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College in Ner Chowk, Mandi, after a bomb threat forced the suspension of normal operations on Tuesday.
The alarm was raised by an anonymous email sent to the college in the early hours of the morning. Principal Dr. D K Verma explained, “We received an email around 3 a.m. last night, originating from Tamil Nadu, in which the sender threatened that three bombs had been placed somewhere on the college premises.”
Acting swiftly on the threat, the college administration made the decision to prioritize safety. All scheduled classes were suspended, and the Outpatient Department (OPD) was closed for the day. Staff, students, and visitors were asked to leave the campus as a precaution.
However, Dr. Verma was quick to reassure the public that critical care would continue uninterrupted, stating, “Emergency services are still being provided in the hospital.”
Local police are now leading the investigation. Sakshi Verma, the Superintendent of Police for Mandi, confirmed, “We have sent a Quick Action Team and a bomb disposal squad to the college and are investigating the matter thoroughly.”
