BJP State Delegation Extends Birthday Greetings to Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur
A BJP state delegation met Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur at his residence and extended heartfelt birthday greetings and congratulations. BJP State General Secretary Sanjeev Katwal, State Treasurer Kamal Sood, Media Convenor Karn Nanda, Co-Media Convenor Rama Thakur, Pyar Singh Kanwar, and Sudeep Mahajan were specially present on the occasion.
Congratulating Jairam Thakur, State General Secretary Sanjeev Katwal said that during his tenure as Chief Minister, the BJP government in Himachal Pradesh carried out historic initiatives to strengthen farmers, horticulture, animal husbandry, and the rural economy. He said that under Jairam Thakur’s leadership, farmers in Himachal moved steadily towards prosperity.
Sanjeev Katwal stated that during the BJP government’s tenure, the state government increased the agriculture budget by 40.65 percent, the horticulture budget by 85.27 percent, and the budget for animal husbandry, dairy, and fisheries by 46.30 percent. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, ₹1,532.38 crore was provided to 9.83 lakh farmers in the state, significantly strengthening their financial condition.
He further said that through the Kisan Credit Card scheme, 4.36 lakh farmers were provided short-term loans for farming activities. In addition, a total of 1,76,510 farmers were covered under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and the restructured Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme, offering them protection during natural calamities.
Sanjeev Katwal added that to promote tea cultivation, farmers were given a 50 percent subsidy, and under the Agricultural Production Protection Scheme, up to 80 percent subsidy was provided on the purchase of anti-hail nets. He also mentioned that during the Jairam Thakur government’s tenure, cultivation of asafoetida (hing) was initiated for the first time in cold and arid regions like Lahaul-Spiti, opening a new source of income for farmers.
The state delegation wished Jairam Thakur a long life, good health, and continued service to the people, stating that his experience and guidance would always remain a source of inspiration for the party and the state.
