BJP shows concern over condition of law and order in Himachal
Soon after the issuing of notice by the Himachal Pradesh High Court in suo moto cognizance on the complaint by a businessman against the State Director General of Police Opposition BJP also accused the ruling Congress Government of failing to maintain law and order in the state alleging sudden rise in the organizing crime incidents like crime against woman, increasing cases of drug peddling theft and murders.
In a press statement issued by the BJP spokesperson Sandipani Bhardwaj said that the condition of law and order in Himachal Pradesh is deteriorating day by day under the present government.
Terming the state law and order machinery in state of jeopardized BJP alleged that it virutaly ‘Jungle Raj’ in the state as cases of crimes showing alarming increase in every nook and corner of this peaceful state which is a matter of concern for the people of this hill state.
Targeting the Deputy CM for mushrooming the series of criminal incidents in his Haroli assembly constituency BJP said that these are become the hotbeds of criminals as there is no stopping criminal activities.
Party said that besides these prevailing incidents of firing and fighting people are being robbed at gun points. Mr. Bhardwaj said that the criminal carried out robbing of one lakh rupees from the youth at knifepoint.
Showing a sudden hike of the victims of drug peddling Mr Bhardwaj said that innocent youth are being targeted by the drug trade under the state cover of the drug de-addiction center running in Una district.
This was revealed when the investigation into the death of an M.Tech student at NIT Hamirpur was going on. The investigation found that the Chitta supplier who is under police custody has links with Punjab. The young man who supplied Chitta in NIT used to transfer money to the account of Karampal of Punjab.
BJP said that it was expected that Kiratpur-Ner Chowk four-lane would facilitate people for quick transportation but now anti-social elements are intimidating people as the one hundred km route private vehicles are being targeted by the mafia raj.
He said that place known as Chhat, just before a dhaba on Bilaspur six to seven masked men, standing in the middle of the road, tried to stop a jeep and a car going ahead, who tried to slow down the vehicle and drive away. The glass was hit by masked men.
On October 31, a case of firing on a moving car came to light in Ghaluwal of the Haroli area of the Una district on Tuesday night. A youth of Saloh village has been injured in this firing. If such cases are talked about elsewhere, the series will never end.
He said that in the last 9 months of this year, the police have registered N. D.P.S. 1715 cases of the Act have been registered, in which Shimla District Police N. D.P.S.
BJP showed concern that the state is trending on the list of most drug-affected states today as drug peddling broke all existing records in the state.
He said that youths are dying due to the overuse of drugs however state law and order enforcement is in Nelson like sleep posing a major threat to the future and the young generation.
The BJP spokesperson minced no words on the complaint lodged by the businessman against the state police chief but the party accused the state government of having no control over the state law and order.
